Welcome to Beach Ability, Lincolnshire
Free beach wheelchair charity
Beach Ability, Lincolnshire is a registered charity in England and Wales (No.1214285)
About us
At Beach Ability Lincolnshire, we believe that everyone deserves the chance to experience the beach — the feel of the sand, the sound of the sea, and the freedom that comes with it.
We are a volunteer-led charity providing free access to beach wheelchairs and hoisting equipment, helping people with mobility challenges enjoy the Lincolnshire coastline in a way that might otherwise not be possible.
Our service is free to use, but as we rely entirely on volunteers, booking is essential. You can find more information or book a wheelchair via our booking page (here.)
We currently operate from Ingoldmells Beach and Chapel Point at Chapel St Leonards, with an exciting new site confirmed for Sutton on Sea, opening summer 2026, and more locations already in development.
With over 7 years experience providing this service - including first hand experience within our own Beach Ability family - we have developed a strong understanding of what works best to help people access our beaches safely and confidently, and we truly understand what it means to make the beach accessible and enjoyable for eveyone.
How it All Began
Beach Ability started with a simple idea — that the beach should be for everyone.
Originally founded by the Ingoldmells and Chapel Fans Facebook Group, what began as a small, community-driven initiative quickly grew into something much bigger. It was built on kindness, determination, and the shared belief that no one should be excluded from something as special as the seaside.
Over time, through the dedication of our volunteers and the incredible support of our community, Beach Ability became a registered charity. But at its heart, it remains exactly what it has always been — people helping people.
Why We Do What We Do
For many of our users, visiting the beach simply isn’t possible without the right equipment and support.
We see first-hand the difference it makes — the smiles, the memories created, and the moments that might not have happened otherwise. Whether it’s someone reaching the sea for the first time in years, or a family being able to enjoy the beach together, these are the moments that drive everything we do.
Powered by Volunteers
Beach Ability is entirely run by volunteers — a passionate and dedicated group of people who give their time to make this service possible.
Their support is what keeps Beach Ability running, growing, and reaching more people each year.
If you’d like to be part of something truly meaningful, we would love to hear from you. Please visit our volunteering page (here.)
