About us

Beach Ability – Our Story and Vision

Originally founded by the Ingoldmells and Chapel Fans Facebook Group, Beach Ability began as a small, volunteer-led non-profit service with a simple yet powerful mission: to make the beach at Ingoldmells accessible to everyone.

Thanks to years of dedication, community support, and tireless volunteer efforts, Beach Ability has grown from its humble beginnings into a registered charity. Our commitment to inclusivity and accessibility remains at the heart of everything we do.

We remain a volunteer-led charity, and access to our beach wheelchairs depends on our volunteers being available. For this reason, booking is essential. If you’re interested in joining our fantastic team of volunteers, please see our volunteering page here.

As we look to the future, we are excited to announce that we are actively working to expand our services beyond Ingoldmells, reaching more communities along the Lincolnshire coast. Our goal is to ensure that everyone, regardless of mobility challenges, has the opportunity to enjoy the beauty and freedom of the seaside.

Looking Ahead – Expanding Our Reach

At present, our services are available at Ingoldmells Beach and Chapel Point Beach at Chapel St Leonards. However, throughout 2025 and in to 2026, we are actively working behind the scenes on exciting expansion plans.

We’re committed to growing our reach so that more people along the Lincolnshire coast can enjoy accessible beach experiences. In September 2025 we were able to announce that our first two new branches will be based at Chapel Point, by the North Sea Observatory at Chapel St Leonards, opening November 2025 and also at Sutton on Sea by the new Seaview Colonnade coming in spring 2026. Please stay tuned for more updates as we continue to expand our reach.
