About Beach Wheelchairs

At Beach Ability Lincolnshire, we carefully choose high-quality, specialist beach wheelchairs to give our users the safest and most comfortable experience possible.

Sand is a challenging terrain, and not all beach wheelchairs perform equally. From our experience trialling different models, lower-cost alternatives often struggle in real coastal conditions and don’t offer the same reliability or ease of use.

The chairs we provide are tried, tested, and trusted—by both our team and the people who use them. They are designed to work on our beaches, helping make access not just possible, but more enjoyable.

That’s why we continue to invest in equipment we know delivers the best experience for our users.

Some of our Sandcruiser and Hippocampe wheelchairs, as well as our Tramper mobility scooter, have been made possible thanks to the support of Lincolnshire County Council through DEFRA’s Access for All programme, supporting the vision of the King Charles III England Coast Path to be accessible for people of all ages and abilities.

About Our Tramper

Explore more with our Tramper

Would you love to explore more of our beautiful Lincolnshire coastline, but find that mobility challenges make it difficult?

Do you miss simple pleasures like walking the dog with family, enjoying a seaside stroll, or stopping for a coffee with a view of the sea?

The Tramper is a large, all-terrain mobility vehicle designed to help people with mobility challenges explore the outdoors with greater ease. It is particularly well suited to uneven ground and off-road paths, including sections of the King Charles III England Coast Path between Chapel Point and Ingoldmells.

While the Tramper can handle more challenging terrain, it is not suitable for soft sand or dunes. For direct beach access, our specialist beach wheelchairs remain the best option. The Tramper is also not designed for use in shops, buildings, or registered for use on roads.

Key Information:

  • Maximum user weight: 25 stone (158kg)
  • Available to book for up to 4 hours
  • Single-user only
  • Adjustable controls for left- or right-handed use

The Tramper offers a safe and enjoyable way to access coastal paths and outdoor spaces that might otherwise be difficult to reach.

Please see our Chapel St Leonards Hub page here for more information about Tramper bookings.
